Professional Objectives
Objective #1:
Develop skills for dealing with this specific population.
Activities/Resources:
· Observe the boys in and out of the classroom setting.
· Make note of teacher’s dealings with the students.
· Read at least one student’s file about background to be included.
Evidence:
· Include in my portfolio a list of suggestions with confidential case when dealing with at risk students.
Objective #2:
Learn and understand about ADHD, and how to work with children who have this behavioral disorder.
Activities/Resources:
· Observe students conduct in classroom setting and with peers.
· Talk with psychologist about behaviors and effective techniques in dealing with ADHD.
· Read and do research on ADHD symptoms, cause, diagnosis, and medications.
Evidence:
· Create a reference guide on ADHD characteristics and include a specific confidential case along with my observations.
Objective # 3:
Write a treatment plan for one student.
Activities/Resources:
· Observe the individual’s academic strengths and needs.
· Observe the student’s behavioral strengths and needs.
· Examine how the student interacts in a classroom, with teachers, and with other peers.
Evidence:
· Include individual treatment plan.
Objective #4:
Learn how the special education teacher revises learning materials to fit lower skilled children in a classroom setting.
Activities/Resources:
· Speak directly with special education teacher to discuss her experiences and advice.
· Speak with supervisor on the benefits and effects special education has on kids.
Evidence:
· Write a reflection paper about the modifications needed to be made and include examples.
Objective #5: Create a case study of one of the boys who has specific needs and behavioral issues.
Activities/Resources:
· Make observations of student.
· Talk one on one with student.
· Talk with teachers and other faculty to understand their observations and dealings.
Evidence:
· Include case study.
