The following evidence I wrote is a reflection paper on my experiences in modifying learning materials to fit low skilled students at my internship. The reflection paper discusses my own personal experiences working with the kids in different classrooms settings and learning from the teachers how to best help the student's specific learning needs. It was interesting to learn how to apply these alternative learning methods. Before creating this reflection paper, I really had to learn to connect what I observed from the low skilled students to best be there for them.
To complete this piece of evidence, I spent much of my time with the special education teachers. Whenever I had questions, they were willing to show me alternative ways that might help reach the low skilled student. I also observed and took note of those specific students who seemed to either get frustrated from not comprehending the learning material or began to stop paying attention due to the fact the information was beyond their understanding. I learned to get into a rhythm with how to help each kid. As soon as I started to understand the strengths and needs of the students, it helped me to available to them in the classes where they needed me the most. This really challenged me to use my mentoring skills and to push me to use my inner teacher to be consistently there for the kids.
